Funnel cake, corn dogs and Groove Factory

It’s that time of year, summers here and so is the San Diego County Fair. This year Groove Factory will be performing twice at the fair. On Friday June 21st at the Showcase stage from 9:00pm to 10:30pm and on Friday June 28th at the Plaza Stage from 9:00pm to 10:30pm. Work off those deep fried snicker bars and Twinkies by dancing to a hit packed set of everyone’s favorite dance music.

Rock Lobster

Groove Factory headed up to Long Beach last Saturday to rock out at the Original Lobster Festival. Fittingly, our band colors just happened to match those of a cooked lobster. Props to us?

Sadly, it didn’t occur to us to learn the actual song Rock Lobster for this gig. But … I guess we’ll just have to save that for next year.

Celebrating Victoria and Nathan’s Wedding

Victoria and Nathan tied the knot on September 1st, 2018. Groove Factory was honored to be there to help them celebrate their wedding day.

So what song did we open with? Celebration, of course.

All we have to say is … Wow, do Victoria and Nathan have some awesome dancer friends. Their rug-cutting was so spectacular that my camera couldn’t even capture them properly. Check out the pics below to see what we mean.

Congratulations, Victoria and Nathan! We hope you had an unforgettable wedding, and thank you for having us.

Getting Fancy at Zoofari

Groove Factory barreled through the Orange Curtain last Saturday, as we headed up to the Santa Ana Zoo to play at their annual Zoofari fundraiser. Black ties and evening gowns were on full display, but that didn’t stop people from dancing up a storm.

We’d like to think we had something to do with that …

Unfortunately, our very own Sascha wasn’t able to make this show (we think she was still hung over from her birthday craziness), but we were stoked to have Miko Reed filling in.

Ultimately, the event was bittersweet for Groove Factory, as it marked Jedi’s last gig with us. It’s been a pleasure working with you, Jedi, and may we meet again onstage at some point.

Making Our Debut at Goody’s Tavern

Groove Factory made its San Clemente debut on May 18, at Goody’s Tavern. What started out as a quiet, laid-back bar soon turned into an all-out dance party. We were happy to keep the crowd going into the wee hours of the night.

Okay … I mean … for Orange County, “wee hours of the night” = 1:30 AM.

But still, a great time was had by all, and we look forward to playing at Goody’s again on August 31st! Check out our calendar for more details.

Rocking Out at Eve & Ty’s Wedding

On April 13th, we had the privilege of playing at Eve and Ty’s wedding, in the barrel room of the Ponte Winery in Temecula. Congrats to the bride and groom!

The highlight of our evening was when two bridesmaids came up to us at the end of the night. They asked if we played publicly anywhere, because they had a great time dancing to our music and wanted to see us again.

Sascha replied that, as a matter of fact, we did play regularly in Temecula. She told them about the Temecula Wine & Beer Garden and Franklin’s Cove, and added that we played there as Freeze Frame.

And before Sascha could say another word, one of the bridesmaids blurted out …

“Wait! You guys are Freeze Frame? We LOVE Freeze Frame.”

Guess we’re unrecognizable without our 80s hair.

Here are some official photos from the wedding, with thanks to Vivienne Tyler Photography:
