Groove Factory killin’ it at the San Diego Fair

What a fun night it was at the San Diego County Fair on Friday June 28th. We took the Plaza stage at 9:00pm and it was pure unadulterated electricity until we left and hour and a half later. We could not have asked for a better crowd. They were hootin’ and hollerin’ and dancing the entire time.

Groove Factory doin’ the disco

Groove Factory had another stellar night at Goody’s Tavern in downtown San Clemente. A great enthusiastic crowd danced all night long. Things really got going when a party bus of disco divas rolled in and I mean literally rolled in on roller skates. Roller girls, Afros and sequins lit up the room. So what were we to do? Pump out some disco jams of course. Below is a small sample of what you missed.

Funnel cake, corn dogs and Groove Factory

It’s that time of year, summers here and so is the San Diego County Fair. This year Groove Factory will be performing twice at the fair. On Friday June 21st at the Showcase stage from 9:00pm to 10:30pm and on Friday June 28th at the Plaza Stage from 9:00pm to 10:30pm. Work off those deep fried snicker bars and Twinkies by dancing to a hit packed set of everyone’s favorite dance music.

Rock Lobster

Groove Factory headed up to Long Beach last Saturday to rock out at the Original Lobster Festival. Fittingly, our band colors just happened to match those of a cooked lobster. Props to us?

Sadly, it didn’t occur to us to learn the actual song Rock Lobster for this gig. But … I guess we’ll just have to save that for next year.

Celebrating Victoria and Nathan’s Wedding

Victoria and Nathan tied the knot on September 1st, 2018. Groove Factory was honored to be there to help them celebrate their wedding day.

So what song did we open with? Celebration, of course.

All we have to say is … Wow, do Victoria and Nathan have some awesome dancer friends. Their rug-cutting was so spectacular that my camera couldn’t even capture them properly. Check out the pics below to see what we mean.

Congratulations, Victoria and Nathan! We hope you had an unforgettable wedding, and thank you for having us.

Getting Fancy at Zoofari

Groove Factory barreled through the Orange Curtain last Saturday, as we headed up to the Santa Ana Zoo to play at their annual Zoofari fundraiser. Black ties and evening gowns were on full display, but that didn’t stop people from dancing up a storm.

We’d like to think we had something to do with that …

Unfortunately, our very own Sascha wasn’t able to make this show (we think she was still hung over from her birthday craziness), but we were stoked to have Miko Reed filling in.

Ultimately, the event was bittersweet for Groove Factory, as it marked Jedi’s last gig with us. It’s been a pleasure working with you, Jedi, and may we meet again onstage at some point.

Cherry Bomb Gets Cherry Bombed for Her 25th Birthday

Our very own Cherry Bomb celebrated her 25th birthday on August 11th. Freeze Frame played an epic six-hour set at the Temecula Wine and Beer Garden that evening, and we made sure Cherry was plenty bombed by the end of the night.

Happy birthday, Sascha … er, Blueberry … I mean, Cherry!

Making Our Debut at Goody’s Tavern

Groove Factory made its San Clemente debut on May 18, at Goody’s Tavern. What started out as a quiet, laid-back bar soon turned into an all-out dance party. We were happy to keep the crowd going into the wee hours of the night.

Okay … I mean … for Orange County, “wee hours of the night” = 1:30 AM.

But still, a great time was had by all, and we look forward to playing at Goody’s again on August 31st! Check out our calendar for more details.
